The President of Sierra Leone and Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State of ECOWAS, His Excellency Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio, has been awarded a certificate of national recognition for his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to democratic governance.
He received the citation and award from the Rev. Kennedy Okosun, the Executive Chairman of KRIF Ghana Ltd. and Founder of KRIF Foundation, during President Julius Maada Bio’s stay in Ghana while attending a Consultative Conference on Regional Cooperation and Security for Heads of state.
Briefing the president before presenting the award, Executive Chairman, Rev. Kennedy Okosun, explained that the just-concluded Regal Influence Summit was an initiative that brought together important leaders from various sectors of society to engage in strategic dialogue on leadership, governance, enterprise, diplomacy, social transformation, and more.
Its main aim, he added, is to develop practical and sustainable solutions to Africa’s development challenges, position the continent at the center of its own transformation, and build a resilient Africa for future generations.
According to the citation, it is of deep respect to celebrate Sierra Leone’s priceless contribution to Africa’s advancement and honor its role in Pan-Africanism as a homeland for freed Africans. With Sierra Leone High Commissioner, Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba, representing the president at the Regal Influence Summit, it reaffirms the country’s legacy of principled leadership.
The President, retired Brigadier General Julius Maada Bio, in his remarks after the presentation, expressed profound appreciation for the initiative and commended the organizers, noting that the summit aligns strongly with his broader vision, as a key priority on his agenda as Chairman of ECOWAS. He underscored that after 50 years, Africa must take responsibility in addressing its main challenges without relying on external resolutions.
President Bio called for the eradication of needless barriers among African nations and urged the implementation of strategic alliances to unlock huge market potential.
“Africa must move beyond ceremonial conferences, political communiqués, and embrace action-oriented partnerships,” President Bio said, remarking that increased trade and diversified geographic investments would reduce security threats and enhance regional stability.
President Julius Maada Bio concluded by expressing his willingness to support the initiative and confirmed his readiness to host a future Pan-African Regal Summit in Sierra Leone.
The presentation of a personal citation was made commending him for his exemplary leadership, unwavering commitment to democratic governance, and distinguished service to the people and government of the Republic of Sierra Leone, and another was presented on behalf of the people and government of Sierra Leone.
