President Julius Maada Bio Attends Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama's Inauguration

His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio on Tuesday, January 7th attended the inauguration ceremony of Ghana’s President-Elect, H.E. John Dramani Mahama.

The ceremony held at the Black Star Square in Accra brought together thousands of Ghanaians and guests from different countries and organizations who witnessed and heard President John Dramani Mahama outlining his vision for Ghana.

The Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, Gertrude Torkornoo, led the swearing-in ceremony of President Mahama and his Vice President Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

They both promised to uphold the sovereignty and integrity of Ghana.

In his address to the nation just after being sworn in, President John Dramani Mahama expressed gratitude to all Ghanaians who, according to him, voted overwhelmingly for him and promised that their votes would translate into real change.

“To the millions of my fellow countrymen and women who joined very long queues and waited in the sun to vote for me, you have my sincerest thanks for honoring me. Your courage to bring change will not go in vain “President Mahama said.

He said he would govern Ghanaians with a sound judgment and would take responsibility for addressing the challenges facing the country.

According to President Mahama, now more than ever, Ghana needs to strengthen its ties with neighboring countries to ensure they work together for the safety of the subregion.

The inauguration ceremony followed the victory of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party in the December 7, 2024, elections, which was commended by many.

Just before President Mahama took his oath of allegiance, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman was sworn in as the country’s first female vice president.

Many supporters and well-wishers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Presidents of Kenya, Gambia, Nigeria, Gambia, Liberia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, and Togo, attended the inauguration.

His Excellency Julius Maada Bio was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, High Commissioner of the Republic of Sierra Leone Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba, and the Former Speaker of Ecowas Parliament, Hon. Sidi Tunis.
