The new Minister Counsellor/Head of Chancery, Mr. Aiah Edwin Mbawa, and the Second Secretary, Mr. Samuel Landford, began their diplomatic tour of duties at the Sierra Leone High Commission in Accra, Ghana, on Monday, May 13th.
At a meeting held to welcome them, His Excellency High Commissioner Mr. Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba informed staff of his Mission of the assumption of duties of the two new staff members that had joined the family and asked for all to work together for the good of the Mission and Sierra Leone in general.
In his statement, the High Commissioner seized the opportunity to thank and lavish praise on the entire staff of his Mission for maintaining peace and order at the High Commission while he was away. He urged them to give the same support and cooperation to Mr. Mbawa and Mr. Landford, citing that if they do so, they will fully realize the importance and benefit of team delivery.
He encouraged all staff members to work with the new officers and also requested them to demonstrate a high level of professionalism, as that was what the Accra mission is known for. He added that staff members should work hard and grab opportunities that would present them well in the eyes of the new staff and himself.
Mr. Mbawa, expressed great joy in joining the team and also commended them for the impressive ongoing construction work, which is largely supporting the agenda of His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone. The determined administrator promised to work with everyone, assuring that if all efforts are put together, success would be achieved regardless of individual weakness or strength.
He concluded by calling on all to give full support and maximum respect to the High Commissioner, who represents the Sierra Leone President in Ghana.
The First Secretary, Mr. Samuel Landford, in his own remarks, also thanked the High Commissioner and his team for welcoming them, saying he too was happy to join the team and vowed to support the High Commissioner’s vision that aligns with that of the President.
Staff of Mission introduced themselves to the new team with the hopes of enjoying a unified and proper working relationship over the years to come.
As a way of giving the new staff a bird's eye view of the Chancery, Mr. Philip B. Kabba, who has been acting as Head of Chancery, took the new staff on a conducted tour of the entire compound, accompanied by some staff.
The New Minister Counsellor/ Head of Chancery, Mr. Aiah Edwin Mbawa, replaced Mr. Joseph Spencer Thornton, who has already left for Sierra Leone, whilst the Second Secretary, Mr. Samuel Landford, replaced Mr. Mohamed Amara, erstwhile First Secretary.
